Blessed are the poor in spirit…

Janet Wilhelm

Opening Prayer…

“Lord God, thank you for today. Thank you for your Son Jesus and the incredible words of wisdom from the Sermon on the Mount. Living life as He teaches me can help me walk moment by moment in faith and serenity. Holy Spirit, remind me throughout the day to reFocus on what Jesus is showing me. Help me to carry it with me and practice it in every situation so that in the end I will give glory to God in my life.” Amen

A Word from Jesus…

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mt. 5:3

Come to me as someone who has nothing and I will give you My everything. When you recognize that without Me you are poor you have found your way into the richness of Heaven. Picture yourself an empty vessel. I am setting a table before you with everything you need -just for today- so that you can shine with My spirit. I came into this world in poverty, yet the Father was with me always. I want to bless you today with all that heaven has to offer.

Burn brightly today with My light and go into this day with Me before you. When you do this, you are walking in the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. I want you to do everything with me. I will guide you in your thoughts, words and actions. My Kingdom is filled with daughters and sons who come to Me with their hearts and hands open for their daily bread (Mt. 6:11). By doing this too you will be blessed to know and do the will of My Father here on earth just as it is being done in Heaven. (Mt. 6:10)

reFocus Today…

  • Is there something in today’s Word from Jesus that resonates with you?
  • What do you hear Jesus saying just to you in your mind, heart or spirit?
  • Is there anything that draws you closer to God?
  • Is there anything that makes you want to turn away from God?
  • How do imagine this may impact how you view your situations and people in your life?

Closing Prayer…

Oh God of heaven, thank you for this Word, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” I relinquish everything I believe I have to You today. As I surrender all to You, I know You give me all that You have. You know what is best for me, teach me to trust you. Remind me throughout this day, that just for today I am blessed because You are with me.  Amen.
