God blesses the Humble…Matthew 5:5

Janet Wilhelm

Opening Prayer…

“Lord God, thank you for today. Thank you for your Son Jesus, and the incredible words of wisdom from the Sermon on the Mount. Living life as He teaches me can help me walk moment by moment in faith and serenity even when I mourn. Holy Spirit, remind me throughout the day to reFocus on what Jesus is showing me. Help me to carry it with me and practice it in every situation so that in the end I will give glory to God in my life.” Amen

A Word from Jesus…

“Blessed are the meek (humble), for they shall inherit the earth.” Mt. 5:5 (ESV)

There is a lot of noise in the world. People are shouting at one another demanding to be heard. They want others to look at them, hear them and side with them. The loud voices in the world clamor for us vs. them. The radicals and loud people think they are the most important.

Yet, I say, you experience blessings when you are humble.  The humble are not weak. They are the strongest of all. They are the ones that despite the loud voices and noise choose to quietly and steadfastly follow Me by caring for the forgotten and least. They help the poor, visit the sick, clothe the naked, and reach out to the homeless, give hope to those in prison, feed the hungry and care for the earth. (Mt. 25:31-40)

Come to Me with an open heart and I will give you My everything for all of your needs and wisdom for all of your ways. In this way you are the hands and feet of Jesus doing the will of My Father here on earth as it is being done in heaven.

reFocus on Jesus…

Is there a something in today’s Word from Jesus that resonates with you?

What do you hear Jesus saying just to you in your thoughts, heart or spirit?

Is there anything that draws you closer to God?

Is there anything that makes you want to turn away from God?

How do you imagine this may impact how you in your life today?

Closing Prayer…

Lord Jesus, I come to you today with nothing. I pray for Your everything I need today. Open my eyes to see people and nature that need my help. Help me be Your hands and feet. Just as You did Your Father’s will, help me to ignore the noise and worship You as I serve those who need Your touch. Amen
